Full Circle Saunas is husband & wife team Adam & Karen

Full Circle Saunas was established in 2024 following several years working on adventure van conversions, shepherd huts and other off grid structures, all of these projects were bespoke commissions.

It’s pretty simple, we both love being outdoors in nature…..

We travel very simply, our dogs see the bags going in the van we handcrafted and they jump straight in, hopeful of another adventure. It was during our trips to the mountains that we experienced saunas and sauna culture for the first time and we were hooked.

In the UK most people’s experience of a sauna is shuffling into a box room within a gym or leisure centre, they are simply hot rooms with no way of producing the steam that makes a great sauna. In the mountains things are different, saunas are part and parcel of immersing yourself in nature.

My dad was a skilled carpenter, I remember being handed a hammer as a six year old and being let loose with a block of wood and some panel pins to make a hedgehog!

I learnt a lot from him, however my career path was set in another direction. I was driven to work in conservation, particularly birds of prey. I was lucky enough to get the job of my dreams working with Jemima Parry Jones MBE at the International Centre for Birds of Prey and in particular my work rehabilitating wild injured birds.

I’m a keen mountain biker, rock climber and kayaker – so being outdoors is second nature. The great outdoors is where I have always found my calm.

The saunas are an extension of this love, for post exercise recovery I’ve found no better & more relaxing way to unwind while gaining all the health benefits associated with deep sauna bathing.

Sauna materials are a joy to work with, all our previous builds have focussed on using raw, natural materials often reclaimed or recycled. Saunas by their nature should not be built from heavily modified materials, the heat and steam threatens to release the chemicals from paints and plastics. This makes them the perfect structures for me to get creative with!

With over 20 years experience as a commercial designer developing surface pattern and material effects for interiors, I’ve travelled all over the world gathering inspiration from all sorts of places. I have an appreciation of the influence of colour and the tactile properties of materials, how these impact the space they are designed for as well as how they impact the soul.

My love of the natural world means I gravitate towards the beauty of vast landscapes and the grounding effect of nature’s environment. There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by a breathtaking view to calm the soul and focus the mind, and it’s this feeling that sauna bathing encourages….you just need to find that perfect wild escape!
